Remake of the Hollywood flicks in Tamil cinema industry is on an increasing note. Especially, thriller movies are being remade in Tamil cinema now more often than ever. Movies like Muran, which was remade from Strangers on a Train and Chaarulatha from Alone are good examples for this fact. Joining this list is the new movie called Yaarukku Theriyum, which has its base inspired from a Hollywood movie called Unknown. The interesting fact is that, Unknown was remade in Hindi too, in the year 2009 as Acid Factory. Director Ganesh Kamaraj has helmed the direction of Yaarukku Theriyumand he has not put up a bad show.
The plot of the movie Yaarukku Theriyum is very interesting and relies heavily on the original content from the movie Unknown. However, Ganesh Kamaraj impresses in remaking the plot that appears to be easily likable by the audiences of Tamil cinema industry. Here is the plot of the movie. Six youngsters wake up in a warehouse of a factory, which seems to be left unused for years. When they wake up, they are unaware of their existence and their whereabouts. They even do not recollect what forced them to lying in this factory warehouse. Now, they have to trust each other to unravel the truth and to get out of the mess. Will they do it or will they have problems among themselves?
The pace of the narration of Yaarukku Theriyum is the major plus point of the movie. It does not go at a rapid pace nor does it bore the movie watchers. The director seems to have implemented the right balance in his story telling, which makes the movie good on screen. The first half impresses the audiences and keeps them thrilled, but the second half has the usual cinema stuff like item number and so on.
The actors, cinematography and music have tried to make the movie stick to its genre well. Although, the director has made a few notable flaws, Yaarukku Theriyum still works a bit in telling the tale of human greed, envy, trust and pride!
