Right from the start, the movie, Samar, which stars actor Vishal and actress Trisha in lead roles is facing many issues and gets struck with many controversies. The movie is being directed by director Thiru who earlier directed another Vishal starrer Theeraatha Vilayaattu Pillai. Earlier, there was a big issue regarding the title of the movie, which was previously titled as Samaran. The movie unit could not get that title as it was booked by some other in the industry. Hence, there was a title change and movie’s new name became Samar. Even that name was in trouble, but the movie unit fought a battle to win the title. However, now the filmmakers are facing another new complaint!
Malaysia Pandian who is a producer and distributor has filed a complaint in Producers’ Council against producer of Samar, T Ramesh, accusing him that he has not given the two percentage commission on distribution norms, which he deserves to get. According to Malaysia Pandian, he enabled selling of the movie distribution rights of Samar in overseas regions including Malaysia, as per the request by producer T Ramesh and Sridhar. The deal was finalized for a sum of one crore and 25 lakhs. According to the norms, producer T Ramesh should give Malaysia Pandian two percentage commission worth two lakh fifty thousand.
Malaysia Pandian, however, claims that he is yet to receive any amount the producers’ side of Samar. As the movie is slated for release on December 28, he has now filed a complaint against the producers of Samar with the claim of his commission from them. Malaysia Pandian also claims that producer Ramesh asked him to give a loan of rupees twenty five lakhs, but he could not help him. It is after this incident, that Ramesh has turned irresponsive to Malaysia Pandian’s calls.
When contacted, the producer of Samar, T Ramesh, said that would respond only if Malaysia Pandian shows proofs for his claims against him!
