Director Sundar C is one of the veteran comedy cinema makers in Tamil cinema industry. His Ullathai Allithaa is considered as his best work till date. The director tried his hands in acting for lead roles in cinema, but he returned to what he does the best – making movies that are laugh riots throughout their runtime – with his last outing Kalakalappu. Kalakalappu became a hit and the director is now continuing to make movies. His recent offering is Theeya Vela Seiyanum Kumaru, which has actor Siddharth and actress Hansika Motwani in the lead roles.
Theeya Vela Seiyanum Kumaru, as promised by the filmmakers, is a laugh riot and it does not keep you bored even for a minute. However, this is not a usual Sundar C flick, but a flick where the entire plot has an urban theme with an IT company background. Kumar (Siddharth) is an IT professional, who hails from a family famous for love marriages. However, Kumar never finds it easy to talk and convince a girl in his life. He is adamant not to have an arranged marriage either. He finds his dream girl in the form of Sanjana (Hansika Motwani), but his weakness comes as a hindrance in getting with her. Hence, Kumar seeks the help of a love guru called Mokia (Santhanam) and whether he succeeds in getting the love of Sanjana forms the rest of the script.
Theeya Vela Seiyanum Kumaru cannot be called the best from director Sundar C, but the movie makes you laugh. The movie works in parts. The one-liners of Santhanam and R J Balaji work well with the audiences. The screenplay is not boring although it is filled with a lot of content-less elements. Songs have been placed at wrong places in the screenplay, but the glam show of Hansika in songs might keep the fans entertained.
It seems the director is convinced to give a laugh riot without caring for the story and screenplay too much and you will enjoy Theeya Vela Seiyanum Kumaru, if you go without expecting a content filled comedy.
