The film, directed by Farah Khan (another reason she should have take it) is called Happy New Year. Farah asked Mamta if she wanted a role in the movie, and apparently Mamta politely refused.

She said though she would love to do a role opposite Shah Rukh, she did not really like the fact that there were two heroines apart from her in the film. She also said she would like to be choosy with her roles.

When people from the Kollywood scene seem to be jumping at every chance they get to act in Bollywood, one can only wonder what was going through Mamta’s head when she refused this offer.
