Vettaikaran Vijay
So here we go again with a movie review… and this time I’m writing about Vettaikaran. That’s right, the long awaited (by few) Vijay movie, that was supposed to be his way back, his trump card, after all those amazingly awful movies, right from Azhagiya Tamil Magan on to Villu. Well, for those of you, who are looking for an extraordinary performance by Vijay, prepare to be disappointed.

I know people who have seen this movie, hardcore Vijay fans, and even they described the movie to me as being sub standard, as if it was a cheap mix of a whole bunch of Vijay Films from the past. But all is not bad with it. I mean I don’t think the movie is bad as such. It’s just another Vijay movie.

And quite frankly, after the last 7 just-another-Vijay-movies, people tend to grow bored of it. It’s got all the usual masala, the dancing, the awe-inspiring punch lines, and those highflying stunts that would make Isaac Newton stuff that apple down his throat and kill himself.

Vettaikaran Vijay
The story follows Ravi, a small town guy, who idolizes the town policeman, who is an encounter specialist, and shows no mercy towards the baddies. So our young hero sets out to become like him, and trains for his IPS exams despite his bad academics. He comes to Chennai, and the city gives him everything he could ask for… a good education, employment and a really bad criminal who is just waiting to be taken down by our hero.
