Mundaasupatti is a romantic comedy Tamil film with the right dose of adventure, directed by Ram. The movie stars Vishnu and Nandita in the leading roles. Kali Venkat and Ramadoss play the other major roles in the film. The movie was produced by Thirukumaran Entertainments in association with Fox Star Studios. The story is based on a short film shot by Ram in 2011. It takes us back to the 1980s through its intelligently designed set and camera work. The story is of a village named Mundaasupatti where people believe that being photographed is a bad luck, and people should be pictured only after they are dead.
The lead character of the retro comedy, Gopi, played by Vishnu, runs a photo studio in Sathyamangalam. Alagumani played by Kali Vnekat, is his assistant cum friend. One day, as a part of their work Gopi visits a school where he meets Kalavati played by Nandita, and falls in love with her. However, Kalavathi discontinues the school before Gopi could meet her the next time. Disappointed Gopi gets an assignment from Mundasupatti, and he along with his assistant reach the village to photograph the dead village headman. During their assignment they got caught up in several problems and the story revolves around how they solve the issues.
The film has received a great feedback from the viewers as well as from the critics. The music of the film which is composed by the independent musician Sean Roldan has got nice reviews too. The casting of the film looks just perfect on screen, and the actors in the side as well as main roles are perfect in their performances. The movie is a perfect entertainer and can be really enjoyable. However, the movie could have been trimmed a bit more to give it a more sleek appearance. Overall, Mundaasupatti is a good movie with the right amount of entertainment factor.
