Actress Swetha Menon is again under the shades of controversy because of her daring act in a Malayalam movie called Kalimannubeing directed by director Blessy. Shwetha Menon has a reputation of trying out new and daring scenes in her cinema career and has sparked controversies many times before. This time, she has gone to do something, which has never been done anywhere by an actress, and she is receiving both strong positive and negative criticism for her daring act.
Recently, Swetha Menon had been carrying a child and was also simultaneously shooting for the movie Kalimannu, since the movie of director Blessy is all about the relationship a mother shares with her fetus. To make things look real and to be creative in the approach, Shewtha Menon opted to shoot the delivery of her child. She was admitted at the maternity ward in Nanavati hospital in Mumbai and her husband was with her at the time of delivery. With the help from the doctors and the hospital faculty, the movie unit of Kalimannu was also present with select crew to film her scene of delivering the baby.
With this incident happening a couple of weeks ago, the Speaker of Kerala Assembly has now questioned the good motive of the scene. During a function in Azhapuzha, he asked why women organizations are keeping mum after knowing what Swetha Menon has done in Kalimannu. He has also added that delivering the child is one of the intimate and private things for a mother and further stated that Swetha Menon has made that thing commercial in the name of creativity.
Responding to the speaker’s attack on her, Swetha Menon told the media that not everyone always respects one’s ethics. She added that ethics changes from one person to another and that she is not hurt by the speaker’s comment. She further said that the scene was an unavoidable part of the movie and director Blessy shot it with great care and decency.
