Director Chimbudevan is known for his fantasy flicks. His movies like Arai En Munootrienbathil Kadavul and Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam are well known among the Tamil cinema lovers. The director has a knack for inventive writing and his dialogues and different story plots are the important points of his movies. His knack has continued with his recently released flick called Oru Kanniyum Moondru Kalavaanigalum. The movie stars actors like Arulnidhi, Bindhu Madhavi, Asritha Shetty, Nasser and Delhi Ganesh. Oru Kanniyum Moondru Kalavaanigalum is good in parts but takes too much time to convey the plot.
Loosely inspired from the movie Run Lola Run of Tom Tyker, Oru Kanniyum Moondru Kalavaanigalum is part comedy and part fantasy and starts off with the Hindu mythological lords talking about the wordly lives of Tamizh (Arulnidhi) and his two friends Malar (Bindu Madhavi) and Ramanujam Issaki (Bagavathi Perumal). Tamizh needs to make quick money with his friends and a businessman offers him a kidnap deal worth thirty lakhs. He asks Tamizh to kidnap Isha, who incidentally, happens to be the girlfriend of Tamizh. Can Tamizh pull out this without any trouble?
The first half of the movie is quite brilliant with very good narration and witty dialogues. There are all entertaining elements filled in the first half of the movie with the interval point coming with an inventive film making.
The second half of the movie, however, is where you come to know about the intentions of the director. He has come up with the scenario based screenplay in parts but misses an easy guess, which could have turned out to be an interesting plot point. The director also takes his own time in revealing everything.
The actors have delivered their best and add strength to the script.
Overall, Oru Kanniyum Moondru Kalavaanigalum is yet another Chimbudevan flick filled with fantasy elements.
