Siva Karthikeyan second movie played lead role  A movie with a happy go lucky guy in a rural background who desperately tries to win the heart of a girl is not a new story line in the Tamil cinema industry. Even the recent hit Kalavaani had the same story line and did well at the box office. The director S Ezhil has tried his luck with the same storyline again in Manam Kothi Paravai with a few fresh faces, more importantly with Siva Karthikeyan playing the lead role. Although the story line is not new, the director does have something in the movie that will surely appeal a lot to the fun loving audience!

The Story of Manam Kothi Paravai
Here is the story of Manam Kothi Paravai. Kannan (Siva Karthikeyan) loves Revathi (Aadhmiya) desperately. However, Revathi is yet to love him. Kannan, however, convinces all his friends that Revathi too loves him back. In the meantime, Revathi’s family consists of many big shots of their village, which starts arranging for Revathi’s marriage with some other guy. Knowing this, Kannan’s friends make way for Kannan and Revathi to elope to Kerala. Now, can Kannan survive all this mess and get Revathi’s love for himself?

Aadhmiya does not use her advantage
Manam Kothi Paravai’s characters are not cinematic and appear as if we see them everyday around. Thus, the director clearly scores in the characterization arena. However, it seems as if the lead role portrayed by Siva Karthikeyan is a bit under written. Even though his role of Kannan does bring out laughter among the audiences, the second half leaves him no scope to show his full potential. However, the female lead role of Revathi has given Aadhmiya enough room to perform, but the new girl has not used to her advantage.

All is well that ends well, but the director Ezhil has not understood this fact it seems. He fumbles a bit in capturing the female lead’s confession of her love down the movie’s run time and eventually the climax has not come well.

Overall, Manam Kothi Paravai is a funny outing but is not an ultimate funny entertainer!
