Director Pandiraj entered into the industry with a National Award reputation for him, thanks to his debut movie Pasanga. Since Pasanga, the director’s movies carry a bit of expectation and hype, although he sticks to make small budget films. His Vamsam failed, but he came back well with Marina. His latest offering is Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, which unites budding actors Vimal and Siva Karthikeyan in lead roles. The movie’s promos promised a suburban tale of comedy. The director has delivered the comedy but without good content, which might disappoint the audiences.
Here is the plot of Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga. Kesavan (Vimal) and Murugan (Siva Karthikeyan) are childhood buddies and fit for nothing youngsters. Both of them while away time and drink hard. Girls enter into their lives later. Murugan falls for Pappa (Regina) and Kesavan falls for Mithra (Bindhu). Now, to get married, Murugan and Kesavan want to become something in life. They plan to enter into politics. Mean while the element of family emotion gets in the middle way, what happens to them forms the rest of the plot.
Director Pandiraj used the romance tracks to deliver comedy to the audiences in his previous flicks. This time too, the director sticks with this trick, and, he manages to deliver comic sequences through the romance tracks between the lead characters. Especially, Siva Karthikeyan’s one liners work so well and set the audiences laughing.
The movie, however, falls short of creating an impression, when it comes to the content. The director uses many commercial elements to move his movie from one point to another and the lack of consistency disappoints the audiences. The climax is nothing but a father – son emotional melodrama, which disappoints the audiences further. The climax also becomes a bit preachy.
Overall, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga is a comedy that has no content!
