Kanchana 2 is a Tamil horror comedy written and directed by Raghava Lawrence. Produced by Bellamkonda Suresh and distributed by Sun Pictures, this 168-minute-long third installment of the “Muni” franchise stars the director Raghava himself along with Taapsee Pannu, Kovai Sarala (playing Raghava’s mother), and Renuka.
The rest of the cast comprises Muruges (playing Muni), Jeya Anandh (playing Anandh), Pooja Ramachandran (playing Pooja), Jangiri Madhumitha (playing Aishwarya), Jaya Prakash (playing the villain), Udayan Dhanagopal (playing the ghost), Sriman (playing Doctor Prasad), Rajendran, Manobala, Michael, Mayilsamy, Vino in a special appearnce, and Nithya Menon in a cameo. The cinematography has been done by Rajavel Olhiveeran and the screenplay has been written by Raghava Lawrence himself. The editing has been handled by Kishore while the music has been scored by Leon James, SS Thaman, Ashwamithra, and Sathya.
Lawrence, who can be lauded for taking the genre of horror comedy in Tamil cinema to a different league, altogether, has again been able to keep viewers glued to the edge of their seats with Kanchana 2. Kovai Sarala’s brilliant comic timing and wonderful chemistry with Raghava make viewers laugh their hearts out. Beautiful expressions and heartwarming performances from Manobala, Mayilsamy, and Sriman, particularly in the first half, make the movie highly entertaining.
Kanchana 2 can be described as a rib-tickling comedy or a spine-chilling horror movie, but what cannot be ignored is the fact that it is a technically sound project. Raghava manages to slip in a couple of social messages with the narration as the movie features larger degrees of horror compared to its earlier versions. Although comedy is the highlight of Kanchana 2, viewers cannot help but feel that some of the repetitive and slapstick comic sequences could be avoided. However, Raghava’s directorial and acting abilities are well able to take the attention away from the minus points of Kanchana 2 that entertains fully with comedy and chills.

Because of audience like him and censor board, there are lot of directors
who werent able to show full potential.Director like selvaraghavan has been
ruined because of censor board. I cant comment for others but in my opinion
, let director take whatever they wanna take, let audience choose whether
to watch it or not. Its shame that we are not able to see full potential of
certain directors.
