Ivanuku Thannila Gandam is a hilariously entertaining movie that is superbly held together by Rajendran’s brilliant comical act. Viewers cannot help but laugh out loud when Rajendran appears. Although the movie initially promises to be a dark but entertaining comedy, it often looks like an intermittently funny and boisterous television show that has been forcefully made into a 2 hour-25 minute-long movie. The cast is nothing more than “okay” and the movie banks too heavily on Rajendran who might bore or tire some of the viewers with his overused style of humor. In some parts of the movie, amateurishness passes for attitude and silly dialogues pass for comedy. However, the tight screenplay dazzles with brilliance and hence its similarity with Hangover can be pardoned. This feel-good movie is a treat for comedy lovers. The negative reception from critics notwithstanding, Ivanuku Thannila Gandam has the potential of being at least a moderate hit.
