Chennaiyil-Oru-Naal-Movie-Review-1Chennaiyil Oru Naal has hit the theatres in Tamil cinema industry for this weekend. The movie is a remake of the super hit Malayalam movie called Traffic, which is based on a true incident. The movie delivers a strong message with the help of a well executed work by the director Shaheed Khader. The movie also has another interesting thing. The movie consists of an ensemble cast, in fact one of the big multi starrers in Tamil cinema in recent times, bringing together many popular stars like Sarath Kumar, Cheran, Prakash Raj, Prasanna and Surya.

Chennaiyil-Oru-Naal-Movie-ReviewChennaiyil-Oru-Naal-Movie-Review-3The plot of the movie is similar to the original Traffic without any notable changes. Gautham Krishna (Prakash Raj) is a star actor, whose daughter Ria, a 13 year old girl, is ill and is in need of a heart transplant. A young journalist called Karthick is declared brain dead after meeting with an accident on his first day of job. His parents decide to donate their son’s heart to Ria. There is a problem, however, to get it done. The heart should travel from Chennai to Vellore, about 140 kilometers in just 90 minutes. With the help of a cop (Sarath Kumar) and a traffic inspector (Cheran), does the mission become successful?

Director Shaheed Khader gets it all right in this thriller, which is quite fast paced. No need to be brilliant to watch this thriller and this is one advantage that could get the audiences easily attracted to the flick. The director starts off the proceedings without any tension and the plot unravel by itself, without any statements. And, so do the characters in a novel style. The characterization is revealed only when required, which is quite unusual in Tamil cinema.
Actor Surya’s cameo might add to the promotional efforts for the film, but it does not make sense in the fast paced screenplay. Still, Chennaiyil Oru Naal is a quite convincing thriller that is worth the time!
