Halla Gulla song is a nice song in Bombay film. The song is a turning point in the film. It shows the hero and heroine living happily, giving birth to twins and growing them up. The first part of the song shows the Hindu hero wearing a Muslim cap to please his wife and the Muslim wife keeping bindi to please her husband. They love and respect each other. The hero lives happily with his pregnant wife in Mumbai. A.R.Rahman had composed this song using a very different tune.
The chorus in a children’s voice and the inspiring lyrics are good to hear. He had used many instruments in the song. Anupama’s beautiful rendition with the ‘dhak dhak’ background music changes phase in the middle of the song, with a long kawali type interlude. The song comes back to its track with Anupama’s husky voice and the chorus sung by young voices. This part of the song shows the couple growing up their children. A.R. Rahman knows how to compose music suitable to the scenes shown perfectly.
